Coventry City have had a decent campaign in the Championship this season, and their season is certainly not over yet.

With three games to go, the Sky Blues have a four point gap to make up if they want a play-off place, but nonetheless, win three out of three and you never know where nine points might take you.

Regardless of whether or not they end up in the play-0ffs, it’s certainly been a positive campaign for the Sky Blues as they further consolidated themselves in the second-tier.

Having said that, we asked FLW’s Coventry City fan pundit Neil Littlewood for his verdict on the Sky Blues best player in 2021/22.

“Player of the season has got to be Gyokeres.” Neil explained to FLW.

“Scoring the amount of goals he’s scoring, and important goals too, even when he went through his bad patch he was still contributing, playing on injured.”

LEE BURGE

“He’s been an absolute handful for most defenders in this league and he’s laid on a number of assists, too.”

“Considering he didn’t fit in at Swansea when he was on loan there last year, he struggled when he first came to us on loan

“Kid looks like a different player, he’s had international call up’s and recognition, so got to be Gyokeres.”

The Verdict

It’s been a good season for Gyokeres and you wouldn’t argue with Neil’s selection here.

The Swedish international has an impressive fifteen goals this campaign and has also popped up with five assists, too.

Featuring in 42 of Coventry’s 43 Championship games so far is no mean feat either.

All things considered then, Viktor Gyokeres would be more than worthy of being named Sky Blues’ player of the season for 2021/22.
