West Brom are right in with a chance of going back up to the Premier League after sealing a play-off spot under Jimmy Shan.

Shan has steadied the ship somewhat after Darren Moore was sacked, and the Baggies will be confident of seeing off teams in the play-offs to ensure they make an immediate return to the top flight.

The Baggies have a squad of talented players who are all easily good enough at Championship level, and it's something of a surprise that they haven't been in the mix for the top two at a bit more.

One man who has been coming into his own under Shan after struggling a bit initially has been big defender Kyle Bartley, with the former Leeds and Swansea man playing some excellent football over the last few weeks to cement his place in the squad.

But just how good is Bartley, and is he really proving his worth to Albion at just the right time?

We asked our writing team here at FLW to give us their thoughts on Bartley and his career with West Brom thus far...

Lee Connor

"I've always liked him and he's always good at this level in my opinion.

"Sure, he's not spectacular, but he does the basics well and he's got a good background from his younger days too.

"It's good to see him come good for West Brom, and I think he might just prove crucial in the play-off games with his presence and height at the back".

Alfie Burns

“Different managers do different things for certain players and that certainly seems to be the case with Jimmy Shan and Kyle Bartley.

“Bartley looked like flopping at the Hawthorns, but he’s now heading towards a crucial role in the play-offs.

“This might be a question to revisit at the end of that play-off campaign, but on current form, Bartley has a big role to play.”

George Harbey

"I think he’s been solid if unspectacular in the second half of the campaign. "In the first half of the season, he looked very shaky indeed, and I think every West Brom fan will have been urging Darren Moore to drop him. "But his experience and real quality is starting to come through now, and I think he will be very important for them going into the play-offs."
