Charlton Athletic continued their strong start to the season as they ran out 2-0 winners over Reading at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday.

Goals from Jonathan Leko and Lyle Taylor proved to be enough for Lee Bowyer's team as they moved up to second in the Championship table.

Football League World's Charlton fan pundit Robert Smith has issued his thoughts on the Leko, and was pleased to see the youngster get off the mark for the Addicks at the weekend.

"All that’s been missing from his opening six games is a goal so everyone will be delighted he’s off the mark.

"He’s growing more and more each game, getting minutes and with the support from the fans and the manager you can see the confidence building after a stagnant term with West Brom last season."

Smith outlined Leko's attributes, and is looking forward to seeing what the youngster can bring to the Charlton side this season alongside Lyle Taylor up-front.

"He’s a threat, he’s got pace, trickery and is extremely direct. He’ll drift wide, go in behind or drop centrally to pick up the ball up. He's a defender's nightmare at the moment.

"Bowyer has described him as a wildcard and that is 100% correct, I am not even sure he knows what he is going to do when he picks the ball up.

"Both have pace and create space by drifting wide and pulling defenders out of position, leaving Taylor to do less work in the channels and more damage in the box."

The fan pundit is remaining grounded despite Charlton's impressive start to the season, but claims that promotion shouldn't be ruled out whilst they have momentum behind them heading into the international break.

"We’ve got real momentum following on from last season, but we can’t lose sight of the main aim which is staying up. We're still very much treated as underdogs in every game so far by opposition fans, which we absolutely thrive on .

"With momentum and confidence you never know, a man can dream."
