Today is Nottingham Forest midfielder Samba Sow's 31st birthday, which has drawn an interesting response from fans of the East Midlands club.

The Mali international arrived at the City Ground this summer, in the wave of signings that came after Sabri Lamouchi took charge.

Sow's career has seen him feature for top tier clubs in Turkey, Russia and France, and he certainly seems to have taken to the Championship well.

The holding midfielder has helped to add a bit of physicality in the centre of the park for the Reds but the impact he has had with the ball at his feet, particularly his distribution, should not be overlooked.

Injuries have restricted Sow to just 18 appearances for Forest this term but when available he has contributed to their ascent into the Championship's top six.

They will be hoping that he can help them secure promotion, if and when the 2019/20 campaign is concluded.

Has Lewis Grabban done these 12 things at Nottingham Forest?

Sow's contract at Forest is set to expire this summer but it certainly seems as if the 31-year-old is a popular figure at the club, as many fans have taken to Twitter to send positive messages on his birthday.
