Henri Lansbury might be the forgotten man at Aston Villa at the moment, which is understandable given the fact he has rarely featured this season.

But Lansbury picked up another frustrating injury blow, with a reoccurring hamstring problem still causing the midfielder issues.

The 28-year-old posted a message on his personal Instagram account stressing that he is keen to get back into the first-team picture as quickly as possible.

Lansbury has made just two appearances for Dean Smith's side this season, and with just eight minutes of league action under his belt, it's clear to see that he's down the pecking order at Villa Park.

This is understandable, given the likes of John McGinn, Conor Hourihane and Glenn Whelan are all ahead of the former Arsenal midfielder.

But the Aston Villa man is evidently keen to get back playing, and will hope that he can play his part in Villa's late push for a top six finish.

Dean Smith's side are currently sat 9th in the Championship table and will be hoping that they can improve on a poor run of recent results which has seen them lose ground on the play-off chasing sides.

It remains to be seen as to when Lansbury is due to return to action, but he has been ruled out of this weekend's game against Sheffield United at Villa Park.

The Verdict:

You have to feel sorry for him in some ways.

There will always be the argument that he isn't putting effort in and is simply just picking up a wage for little return.

But this latest statement does at least show that he is keen to make an effort to get back and play his part in Villa's promotion push this season.
