It's been a steady start to the summer for Sunderland but the ball now looks to be rolling in the transfer market.

The Black Cats have confirmed the signing of Alex Pritchard on a free transfer with the midfielder agreeing a two-year deal to move to the Stadium Of Light.

The 28-year-old had most recently been playing for Huddersfield Town in the Championship, however an injury-hit three years at the club stopped fans at the John Smith's Stadium from really seeing the best of the player.

A move to Sunderland will be seen as an opportunity for a fresh start for Pritchard, something that was echoed by head coach Lee Johnson who told the website: "We are absolutely delighted to bring in a player of Alex’s pedigree because it’s not often that you get the opportunity to sign a player of this quality in League One.

"It’s our job to wrap around him to make sure he can be the best he can possibly be, but he’s made a lot of sacrifices to come to Sunderland and I think that shows a great desire to play for the fans, for me and for the club.”

As you'd expect, Pritchard's arrival has been met with a strong response from supporters on social media. Here's what some of them had to say.
