Birmingham City signed teenage striker Che Adams on August 8th 2016, but few seemed sad to see him go.

As the Blues unveiled their new star striker, Sheffield United fans were filling Twitter with their honest assessments of him.

Some suggested he'd spend more time in nightclubs than in the team. Others had him down as a bench warmer who would eventually head out on loan. Few Birmingham fans reacted to the signing, although it was hard to get a tweet in with all the Blades' fans responding.

He'd bagged 15 goals in 55 matches since joining from Ilkeston, but at a rumoured £2m it was seen to be folly on Birmingham's part. They'd paid for potential that few wearing red and white could see developing.

How wrong they were. Adams has taken time to get going, scoring seven times in his first season, adding nine last season. This campaign he's set St Andrew's alight, breaking the 20-goal barrier for the first time since Steve Claridge in the nineties.

He's now bearing down on Trevor Francis' scoring record, with every chance of not only grabbing it, but also firing the Blues to the play-offs as well.

Not bad for a player who was 'never going to get a game' according to the fans he left behind.
