Leeds United are on the verge of sealing a deal to appoint Barnsley boss Paul Heckingbottom as their new manager.

Just how long do you think the 40-year-old boss will last at Elland Road?

We discuss....

Football is a results based game, and ultimately, if he gets points on the board, Radrizzani will be patient with him.

Christiansen could’ve been sacked before Christmas, but Leeds gave him time to see if he could put a promotion challenge back on track, which indicates this regime at Elland Road will be different to the last.

I’m fully expecting Leeds to be appointing Heckingbottom with an 18-month plan, with the soon-to-be Elland Road boss having six months to look at the challenge, before a year to mount a serious assault on promotion.

It's anyone's guess.

Leeds haven't exactly had success in keeping managers around for long but maybe this will be different.

He's going to have to prove himself pretty quickly but if he can do that he might be there for a while.

Sam Preston

He'll do well to last until the end of next season.

Leeds managers haven't often got through a full season in charge in recent years.

Heckingbottom's style is to build a team, with young players in there and that takes time. He might not get that at Leeds, especially with the expectation around the club now that they are in and around the play-offs. If he is given time, I think he will build a side that Leeds fans can be proud of but it's just a question of whether he lasts long enough to do so.
