Sunderland boss Jack Ross is tempted to throw winger Aiden McGeady straight back into his side when they travel to Burton at the weekend, following the international break.

Th 32-year-old Republic of Ireland player has not kicked a ball in anger this season, having returned to the club for pre-season nursing a calf injury and then seeing his recovery hampered by a series of setbacks over the last three months.

But should Ross start with McGeady?

We discuss.....

Gary Hutchinson

He should involve him but starting him might send the wrong message.

I would imagine that the likelihood is he wants the rest of the quad on their toes and he wants McGeady feeling like he’s close.

It won’t hurt to have additional quality around the starting Xi, but a place must be earned, not gifted.

Sam Rourke

Why not?

McGeady is way too good for League One, he could terrorise the league.

When on song, McGeady's pace and dribbling ability can be so dangerous and he'll be a real weapon for Ross at the Black Cats.

Jay Taylor

It is a risk having been out with injury - and one I don’t feel he needs to take.

Sunderland are flying at the moment, unbeaten and fourth in the division. They are on a good run of form and should look to reintroduce the attacker from the bench.

I don’t feel Jack Ross needs to risk the fitness of Aiden McGeady at this stage - he needs to be sensible.

Louie Chandler

I don't think so.

The Black Cats have done very well without him so it seems a bit pointless to do so.

Having just come back from injury as well it seems foolish to risk him so early.
