Former Leeds United midfielder Andrew Couzens has said that David Stockdale will '100 per cent' want to join the club in January, report Youtube channel LS11.

Stockdale was a target of Marcelo Bielsa's back in the summer but the two clubs could not strike a deal, but with Birmingham keen to make room on their wage bill the deal could be back on.

"He's going to be on a lot of money because he came from Brighton," Couzens said.

"But definitely 100 per cent if Leeds United came in for him he would bite their hand off."

An injury to goalkeeper Jamal Blackman in a reserves fixture last week has triggered the Whites' latest need for a shot-stopper and Leeds born Stockdale tops the list.

The 33-year-old moved to St. Andrew's at the start of last season after being released by Brighton, making 36 appearances and keeping six clean sheets.

He was sent out on an emergency loan to League One side Southend United earlier in the season where he made three appearances having been banished from the first-team by Monk.

Youth product Bailey Peacock-Farrell has been Bielsa's first choice 'keeper at Elland Road this season but a few shaky performances in recent weeks have led to doubts over his ability to help win promotion.

The verdict

It is no real surprise that Stockdale would be keen on the move.

He has no chance of getting game time at St. Andrew's and having grown up in Leeds his desire to move back would be understandable.

I think Leeds could do better, however.
