‘He’d be worth the gamble’ – Sunderland plot transfer deal for 25-year-old: The verdict

Published

on

Sunderland could look to League Two as manager Jack Ross looks to bolster his squad in the January transfer window, as the club look to an immediate return to the Championship following back-to-back relegations.

Black Cats chairman Stewart Donald has indicated that funds will be made available to Ross in January with Exeter striker Jayden Stockley likely to be under consideration, having been linked with a move to the Black Cats.

So would Stockley be a good signing for Sunderland?

We discuss……

Gary Hutchinson

Interesting signing given the way they set up.

If they bring in Stockley he’d play as the target man up front, but does that mean Josh Maja is to be cashed in?

Or is it a nod towards Charlie Wyke not recovering as quickly as he should?

This is an interesting shout, but Stockley is definitely a player to watch.

Jacob Potter

He’d be worth the gamble.

Stockley has been in excellent form this season and with nine league goals already to his name, he would certainly be worth the gamble for Sunderland.

If Josh Maja moves on from the club, then Stockley would be the perfect replacement.

Louie Chandler

Yes, but do they need him?

Gooch and Honeyman have proven to be brilliant this season so adding more competition in that area seems a bit pointless.
