Swansea City boss Steve Cooper has reportedly emerged as a potential candidate for the vacant Derby County job.

Phillip Cocu left the club over the weekend and, according to a report from The Telegraph, Cooper is someone that is being considered as a replacement.

But would he leave the Swans?

We asked our FLW writers just that...

Given the takeover at Derby and subsequent financial windfall the Rams could be set for, you can maybe see why Cooper would be tempted by the job at the Pride Park.

However, I can honestly see him snubbing any approach and sticking around at Swansea.

He has the Swans well-placed for another crack at the play-offs (or more) this season and I can't see him walking out on that project at this stage.

There's a lot going for him in South Wales and the uncertainty of Derby just won't appeal.

Derby, for me, will have to dig a little deeper to find Cocu's replacement.

Did these 17 Derby County players ever actually score a league goal for the club?

I think he'd be torn.

On the one hand he'd probably like to stay at Swansea and see what he can do with them, trying to finish the job of getting them into the Premier League.

On the other, I think he'd be tempted by the extra finance Derby are likely to have and being able to use that to bolster the squad, as well as working with another crop of good young players.

It's a real toss of a coin to be honest, and I wouldn't be surprised to see either happen in terms of him staying or going.

Steve Cooper would be a great appointment for Derby County.

A manager who knows the Championship well. the Swansea City boss has already shown that he knows what it takes to be a success at this level.

Cooper defied the odds by leading the Swans to the play-offs last term - something that will make him an eye-catching appointment for the Rams.

Whether he will leave Swansea remains to be seen, but Derby are certainly on the right track by targeting managers such as Cooper.
