Interested clubs will be following the situation at Championship club Wigan Athletic closely, as forward Nick Powell has turned down his latest contract offer as reported in the Sunday Mirror (07/10, Page 65).

According to the publication, Celtic are one of a number of clubs including Burnley and Brighton & Hove Albion said to be interested in the former Manchester United youngster.

But should Celtic make a move for Powell?

We discuss.....

Jay Taylor

They should do what they can to sign him.

He would fit seamlessly into the Scottish Premier League and with Celtic and could be one of their main men should he sign with the Scottish Champions.

It’s a move that would make sense for Brendan Roger’s side as they lack a powerful attacker that can bustle his way into the box.

It would be a good move.

Gary Hutchinson

Should they? Yes.

Could they? Not too sure.

Powell is destined for the top, the Premier League, Europe and all the glitz and glamour that comes with it.

Do Celtic offer that now?

I’m not so sure.

George Harbey

He'd be one hell of a signing.

The SPL is arguably the same standard as the Championship for the most part, and he could prove to a tremendous acquisition for Brendan Rodgers’ men.

Jacob Potter

Powell has been in good form for Wigan this season, scoring four goals already in this campaign.

His goal-scoring record in previous seasons hasn’t been an as-impressive one, with Powell not reaching double figures in any of his last four seasons.

So the interest from Celtic is a surprising one and I feel as though it would be too big of a move for Powell who is crucial to this Wigan side.
