Millwall have been without a manager since Neil Harris’ departure at the start of the month, and here we take a look at the three front-runners for the job at The Den.

After four seasons at the club, Neil Harris felt time to step down from his role at Millwall earlier this month.

His departure was met with sadness and praise for the work he’s done since arriving in 2015 - most notably guiding the club to League One play-off success in 2017.

But the time has come to mourn no more, and Harris replacement should be named by the end of the month.

Wycombe's Gareth Ainsworth is one of the favourites and is joined by Gary Rowett - caretaker manager Adam Barrett is also in with a shout as per BBC Sport.

In the latest FLW Six-Pointer, we assess the three front-runners for the vacant Millwall job...

Who's got the most Championship experience?

"Rowett. As both a player and a manager, Gary Rowett has the most Championship experience of the three.

"As a manager, he's been with Birmingham City, Derby County and most recently Stoke City in the Championship - this experience may put him above the other two.

Who would the fans like to see?

"Barrett maybe, after the 2-1 win against Leeds United last time out, but I think Ainsworth would be the most welcomed of the three, given the job he's done down at Wycombe Wanderers."

Would Millwall be a good fit for Rowett?

"Rowett spent over £50 million at Stoke last season before being sacked in January this year.

"He's been at some of the league's more wealthy clubs in Derby and (maybe not so much) Birmingham, and I can't help feel that Rowett would be in too deep at The Den."

Could Gareth Ainsworth success at this level?

"There's nothing that tells me that he couldn't. He's adapted to League One having got his side promoted from League Two in 2017, so who's to say he couldn't ply his trade another level up?"

Will Ainsworth leave Wycombe?

"Ainsworth has been linked with several vacancies this season, and his reply has always been that he's 'open to anything'.

"Despite the unfinished business he may have at the club, Ainsworth could well be leaving the Chairboys for something bigger and better."

Will Barrett be appointed if Millwall win this weekend?

"Millwall travel to Brentford this weekend. The win at Leeds was unexpected and has made people think about Barrett as a permanent solution.

"If he makes it back-to-back wins at the weekend, he'll put himself in a good position to get the job."
