Aitor Karanka will still be finding his feet at Nottingham Forest following his appointment, but has been thrust into the January transfer window, where the likelihood is he will be looking to strengthen his playing squad.

One player linked with a move to the City Ground is Niklas Hult, Panathinaikos’ 27-year-old left-sided player.

With Forest reportedly keen on adding Hult to their squad, we at FLW assess whether he would be a good addition for Karanka…

George Dagless

Perhaps, but I don't know if they need him.

He's a left-sided player who can play in defence or midfield, do Forest need to strengthen there?

I think other areas are more pressing for Aitor Karanka to improve so let's see if he can do that.

Sam Preston

He'd be a very tidy signing.

A player with European and international experience and aged just 27 is not to be sniffed at, and the quoted price of around £300,000 looks cheap in today's market.

Karanka loves reliable characters at the back and this looks like a trademark signing of his.

Chris Gallagher

It could be a shrewd signing.

The calibre of club's Forest are competing with proves that Hult would be a good signing and Aitor Karanka will hope the Reds can see them off.

Left-back is an area Forest need more depth and his versatility means the Sweden international would be a smart signing if possible.
