Aston Villa are currently gearing up for their biggest game in many a year - but this seemingly hasn't stopped manager Dean Smith from preparing for next season already.

Reports from The Sun claim that Villa are planning to submit a bid in the region of £10million for Liverpool youngster Ryan Kent in the summer, regardless of which division they find themselves in next season.

The 22-year-old has endured a hugely impressive campaign on loan with SPFL side Rangers, where he has scored six goals and produced four assists for Steven Gerrard's side this season.

Villa will be hoping that they sign Kent whilst playing in the Premier League, with Smith's men set to face Derby County on Monday afternoon in the Sky Bet Championship play-off final.

And, with the club also linked with Luton Town defender James Justin, it seems as if they have their back-up plans even if they do not reach the top-flight this season.
