Bristol City have been linked with a loan move for Rangers goalkeeper Jak Alnwick, according to Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

Alnwick could depart the Gers on loan to the Robins, who are still on the lookout for a new keeper despite signing Niki Maenpaa.

Alnwick, 25, has found game time at Ibrox hard to come by since Steven Gerrard's arrival at the club, with Allan McGregor establishing himself as the club's number one keeper.

So would Alnwick be a good addition to City?

We discuss.....

Gary Hutchinson

The Alnwick link has been thrown about a bit recently and it isn't easy to see whether he would have a big impact or not.

He hasn't played regularly for Rangers so any move is based more on potential than achievement.

He's from good stock, his brother Ben was a solid keeper and he did serve his time in the lower reaches of the EFL.

I suspect he is a slow burner who is coming in to cover and maybe, just maybe mature into a top keeper.

Jay Williams

This would be good business by Bristol City as they need another goalkeeper ideally.

Alnwick would provide good competition for Niki Maenpaa and he has a point to prove between the sticks.

After impressing at Port Vale, the 25-year-old has had to settle for second choice at Rangers for a while and a loan move could really improve him.

He is still relatively young - especially for a goalkeeper - and a switch to the Championship would do his career a lot of good.

George Dagless

Potentially.

He'd need to get up to speed quickly but he does have quality and experience to bring to the league.

The Robins have the potential to challenge for the top six but need every player in their squad to be hungry and Alnwick needs to provide that.

Jay Taylor

He would be a good signing.

Alnwick won’t get a game at Rangers and is their third choice keeper.

Niki Maeenpaeae came in on a free after Luke Steele’s exit but you would imagine him becoming second string to Alnwick should he make a loan move to Ashton Gate.

Sam Rourke

He'd be a tidy signing.

The goalkeeper has strong experience in English football, and he'd help strengthen the goalkeeping options at Ashton Gate.

It's certainly worth going for it.
