Sheffield United have enjoyed a lacklustre start to the Championship season.

With the loan transfer window closing shortly, is it time for Chris Wilder to snap up some firepower to boost his ageing front line?

One player who looks to be available on loan is Southampton striker Sam Gallagher, who finds himself way down the pecking order at St Mary's.

The Blades have already been linked with a move for him this summer, but is it now time for Wilder to intensify the chase and seal a deal for him on loan

We discuss.....

They have four strikers already.

Sam Gallagher is still to move from Southampton and you imagine he will go out on loan once more.

He did well with Birmingham and has more Championship experience than current loanee Ben Woodburn.

It would be another typically shrews bit of business by Chris Wilder who would then have five forwards and a multitude of options to chose from.

He should go for it, there would be no hard in approaching the youngster for a temporary switch to Bramall Lane.

Gary Hutchinson

Yes, they should - he'd be a solid signing.

Gallagher is a lively boy, a forward with energy and endeavour and that is a sharp contract to the Blades front two of McGoldrick and Clarke.

I like Wilder, I really like the Blades and hope they do well, but it is incredibly naïve to think those two are going to get the goals to put you in the top six.

Gallagher might just do that. They’ve been after him all summer too, so why wait until now to get it done?

That is the only mystery to me.

George Dagless

I really am unsure.

I think Gallagher is a decent player and at the right club he will score goals.

I just don't know whether Sheffield United is the right one for him though. He needs to be playing regularly and there he'd be a bit-part forward by the looks of things.

Sam Rourke

Gallagher impressed at times for Birmingham last season, and his youthful exuberance could be a welcome addition to Sheffield United's ageing front line.

The Saints man is great at holding the ball up and bringing other players into play, so it's certainly worth considering for Wilder.
