Leeds United have enjoyed a decent start to the Championship season, as they sit in fifth place in the league table.

A 3-0 thrashing by Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday last time out will have been a bitter pill to swallow for the Elland Road faithful, leaving the club with just one win in their last four.

The Whites take on Jaap Stam's Reading at Elland Road on Saturday in their next league fixture, and they'll be hoping to get back to winning ways and maintain their top six spot.

Off the pitch, transfer rumours have started to appear as we approach the January transfer window, and one that caught the eye was Leeds eyeing a move for Liverpool striker Danny Ings.

The writers here at Football League World have issued their verdicts on this reported transfer rumour....

Chris Gallagher

Leeds should stay away.

Yes, he is a quality player and if fit he would be far too good for the Championship. However, he hasn't had a consistent run of games for two years.

He will need time to get up to speed and it could take months given the horrific luck he has had with injuries.

Leeds aren't there to get players back to fitness for others, they need someone to come in and make and instant impact, and you can't guarantee that with Ings.

Alfie Burns

He'd be a sensational signing.

However, he is certainly an unrealistic target, with it highly unlikely he will take the step down from Liverpool to Leeds in January.

Whilst Ings would undoubtedly improve Leeds’ strikeforce, recent weeks have shown us that Leeds still have defensive frailties and their midfield is getting overrun – two key areas that need addressing rather than the attack.

George Dagless

Leeds should do all they can to sign him, but I don't think they'll get him.

The Liverpool forward has spent a serious amount of time waiting for his chance to return from injury and I'd imagine, now he's fit, he'll want to try and work his way into their team.

It'll be a tough ask of course, but the Reds need as much strength in depth that they can muster over a busy few months coming up and so he'll surely stay.

Adam Simeoni

This has to happen.

Ings has suffered a horrible run of luck since switching Burnley for Liverpool, with knee injuries blighting his time at Anfield.

The player certainly has a Premier league future, but is in desperate need of minutes to ensure he gets himself back on the right track.

Christiansen would surely have to move Sacko and perhaps one of Grot or Ekuban out on loan to fit Ings into the squad, but if he gets the former England man firing once more alongside Lasogga, then Leeds will surely be in the top two.

Leeds fans.... Would you want Ings? Can you see it happening? Let us know below!
