West Ham have reportedly enquired about the availability of Bristol City centre-back Aden Flint, according to KUMB.com.

Would the lofty defender be a wise addition to Manuel Pellegrini's West Ham?

We discuss....

Ben Barkworth

Flint has been a reliable performer for Bristol City over the past few seasons and appears ready for the step up to the Premier League.

West Ham need bolstering defensively, so this would be a good move. He also has the the added bonus of being a dangerous attacking threat from set-pieces.

Jay Williams

Flint is one of the best defenders in the Championship - especially when it comes to dealing with aerial threats - but I am not sure he is the solution for West Ham.

With Angelo Ogbonna, Declan Rice, Winston Reid and potential new signing Marlon Santos all on their books (as well as Reece Burke, Reece Oxford and Cheikhou Kouyate), will Flint really get much game time?

The towering defender could probably force through a Premier League move this summer but perhaps West Ham is not the best destination for him, nor is he the right fit for the Hammers.

Alfie Burns

At the right price, Flint would be great for West Ham.

Over the last 12 months, Flint has developed into one of the Championship’s outstanding defenders, who looks more than capable of playing top-flight football.

West Ham need to be cautious of paying over the odds for Flint, but I think he’d be a great addition.

George Dagless

The Hammers shouldn't give up yet.

They've baulked a bit at the price Bristol City want but that shouldn't mean that it's game over with this deal.

He's a powerful presence at the back and would strengthen the club's defence so the door shouldn't be closed yet.

Chris Gallagher

He'd be a quality signing.

Flint is dominant, powerful and an old-school defender that West Ham need.

After years in the Championship he's ready to step up.
