Derby County manager Frank Lampard could be looking to exploit his Chelsea links with a move for out-of-contract full-back Todd Kane in the pipeline, according to Football Insider.

Kane spent last season on-loan at Hull City, where he scored three goals and made one assist in 40 appearances for the Tigers, and his form at the KCOM Stadium has meant that Derby are joined in the hunt for the 25-year-old by Aston Villa, Sheffield United and Fulham.

So would Kane prove to be a good signing for the Rams?

We discuss........

Kealan Hughes

“He'd be a great addition to the squad.

“However he is not on the same level of quality as Jayden Bogle and if he were to leave, The Rams would be weaker at right-back.

“Kane finally proved his consistency at Hull last season and Derby’s attacking full-back system could help to get the best out of him.”

Gary Hutchinson

“Another of those exciting young players who would do well in the Championship once more.

“He had a decent season with Hull and their achievements are often overlooked.

“He was a key part of a side that kept themselves out of the relegation fight against all odd.

“I believe he’d do well at Derby.”

Toby Wilding

"I think this would be a good signing.

"I've seen Kane play at this level for a few different sides and he's always impressed me.

"It looks as though defence is an area Derby will simply have to strengthen, and they could do worse than to look at a defender with proven experience and ability at this level such as Kane."

George Brooks

"Kane would be a good signing for Derby – especially as they’d be getting him on a free transfer.

"The 25-year-old was an important player for Hull City in the Championship last season and he could be able to make an impact for the Rams next season.

"He doesn't have a future at Chelsea and may be keen to finally settle at one club after several loan spells, perhaps Derby would be a good move for him."
