Sheffield Wednesday have shown an interest in Rotherham’s Will Vaulks after the Millers were relegated from the Championship.
The box-to-box midfielder had a very impressive campaign for Paul Warne’s side, scoring seven goals and providing seven assists but unfortunately it wasn’t enough to keep the team in the second-tier.
However, it seems as though the Wales international will be offered a chance to get back to that level, with TEAMtalk revealing that the Owls are looking to do a deal.
Vaulks has just one year left on his contract with the Yorkshire club, although Steve Bruce faces competition to land the player with Sheffield United, Cardiff and Norwich among those believed to be monitoring the ex-Falkirk man.
But, would he be a good signing for Wednesday?
Our writers take a look…
“This could be a good signing for The Owls.
“Steve Bruce clearly wants to strengthen his side ahead of next season, and Vaulks would certainly do that.
“The midfielder would make an effective partner in the centre of midfield for someone such as Barry Bannan, allowing Wednesday to dictate games from the centre of the park next season.”
“This feels like a Steve Bruce type of signing to me.
“Vaulks was good for Rotherham last season, offering busy performances in the midfield.
“It’s certainly an area of the pitch that Wednesday need to strengthen, and Vaulks has qualities that’ll enhance the likes of Barry Bannan.
“All in all, you’ve got to say he’d be a good addition at Hillsborough.”
“This is exactly the type of player Wednesday need.
“Vaulks would add a real energy and bite to the Owls midfield and appears as though he would thrive in a Steve Bruce team.
“A lot of new faces are needed and if they could bring in the Rotherham man it would be a real coup as they look to push for promotion next season.”
