Gary Rowett has already begun to bolster his Stoke City squad ahead of the upcoming season, with the likes of James McClean joining the ranks at the bet365 stadium.

The Potters, who suffered relegation from the Premier League last season, have been linked a potential move for Derby County winger Tom Lawrence.

The 24-year-old started his career at Old Trafford, playing once for the Manchester United first team in the 2013/14 season.

Lawrence went on to play for a host off teams, before finding himself an integral part of Rowett’s Rams side last season at Pride Park.

The former Derby County manager, who took charge of Stoke earlier this transfer window, is looking for a reunion with the forward, and might be able to get the Potters back into England’s top flight.

We discuss the potential transfer news, and whether Tom Lawrence has what it takes.

George Dagless

He'd be a cracking signing.

Lawrence is a proven Championship player and would surely bring added threat to a Stoke side that already looks very strong.

Jay Williams

I am not sure why Stoke need Lawrence if they complete the signing of Tom Ince to follow James McClean's arrival.

But Rowett knows Lawrence well from their season together at Derby and on his day, the Wales international is a special talent.

With a bit more consistency, the former Man United man will be a Premier League player with ease and this could be seen a shrewd long-term investment for Stoke.

Louie Chandler

A very good signing.

Lawrence has proven over the last two seasons to be a top attacking talent in the Championship and would be a terrific addition to Stoke's side.

If they are able to get him signed I would be tempted to pencil their name back into the Premier League table already.
