Derby County manager Frank Lampard is pressing ahead with plans for next season with Colchester United attacking midfielder Sammie Szmodics a target, according to the Daily Mail.

Szmodics, 23, has been in fine form for Colchester this season, racking up 12 goals and seven assists in 41 appearances in all competitions.

So would Szmodics be a good signing for the Rams?

We discuss………

George Dagless

“Potentially.

“He’s got great ability and plenty of attacking threat whilst he is only going to get better.

“Derby have got some good young players and he’d fit in well into what they’re trying to do there.”

George Harbey

“He is a very good player, but why do they need him?

“Derby already have so many midfielders who are similar type of players to Szmodics, so it surprises me to see them linked.

“If Lampard likes him that much, then fair play.”

Jay Taylor

“I rate Smodicz highly and think that under Frank Lampard, he’d be a cracking signing.

“A smart midfielder who is a class act going forward – and is the perfect age for a Derby side looking to have fresh, young talent added to it.

“If the Rams pull this off it’ll be one the better deals; they do this summer.”
