Leeds United put in an inspiring performance against Bristol City in the Sky Bet Championship yesterday, with Paul Heckingbottom’s side securing a vital point at Elland Road.

Heckingbottom’s side found themselves 2-0 down against the Robins, but battled back to 2-2, with goals from Pierre-Michel Lasogga and Kemar Roofe.

This week, Leeds face another difficult task in the Championship, travelling to Derby County to take on Gary Rowett’s automatic promotion-chasing side.

Here at FLW, we believe one man Heckingbottom will be tempted to drop on Wednesday is Caleb Ekuban, who started alongside Lasogga in attack yesterday in a 4-4-2 formation.

The £675k-rated 23-year-old was busy for Leeds in his 64 minutes, but failed to provide a goal threat, which Roofe brought when he was introduced from the bench.

Ekuban has just one goal to his name during his seven months with Leeds, and although his performances have often been praised, he certainly lacks a cutting edge in front of goal.

Roofe’s busy cameo from the bench will tempt Heckingbottom into starting the striker in a 4-4-2 alongside Lasogga, however, with a difficult trip to Derby on the horizon, dropping an extra man into midfield will be an option considered.

That extra man could well be Samuel Saiz, who is returning for a six-match ban on Wednesday evening, and likely to slot straight back into the starting XI at Pride Park.

Saiz has played the majority of his football this season off a lone striker, which was the role Ekuban was given during his 64 minutes against Bristol City.

Unfortunately for Ekuban, Leeds improved after he was taken off, which gives a strong indication that the striker could find himself back on the bench for Wednesday night’s trip to Derby, with Roofe and Saiz pushing for a starting berth.
