Paul Heckingbottom will still be getting to know his Leeds United squad, with the 40-year-old in the job at Elland Road little over a month now.

One thing Heckingbottom will have quickly learnt is that Leeds aren’t play-off material, with the Whites failing to resurrect their faltering top-six challenge under new management.

Leeds have won just one of the seven fixtures Heckingbottom has been in-charge of, with the former Barnsley boss picking up an underwhelming six points from a possible 21.

This weekend presents Leeds with a chance to pick up a victory, with a struggling Sheffield Wednesday side visiting Elland Road to take on Heckingbottom’s men.

Last time out, Leeds fought hard to pick up that second victory under Heckingbottom, but were held to a 2-2 draw by Reading.

Here at FLW, we look back on Leeds’ performance at the Madejski Stadium and identify two players who we believe Heckingbottom could drop for this weekend’s visit of Sheffield Wednesday…

De Bock has been far from convincing since his arrival in English football, with left-back proving to be a constant problem at Elland Road since Charlie Taylor departed.

The Belgian left-back was recalled against Reading, but still failed to impress at the Madejski.

On Saturday, the Elland Road crowd could be quick to turn on De Bock and Heckingbottom might opt to pull him from the starting XI once again.

It appears like a good time to hand Tom Pearce a starting berth.

O’Kane has been far from convincing in recent weeks and could easily be dropped.

The Irish midfielder has struggled, and an own-goal on Saturday against Reading certainly didn’t help.

Kalvin Phillips and Ronaldo Vieira will be pushing for a recall.

For all Ekuban’s running, he just isn’t a goal threat.

At Elland Road on Saturday, Leeds need to be positive and one positive move Heckingbottom could make is recalling Pierre-Michel Lasogga.

If Lasogga is recalled, Ekuban is the obvious man to drop out of the starting XI.
