Paul Heckingbottom has provided an update on Pontus Jansson and Ezgjan Alioski, who have both been away from Leeds United on international duty over the last week.

Jansson has featured for Sweden over the course of the last week, as he and his international teammates continue to prepare for the summer’s World Cup.

Heckingbottom has told West Yorkshire Sport that Jansson arrived back following last night’s 1-0 defeat to Romania, but hasn’t trained with the rest of his squad ahead of Friday’s clash with Bolton Wanderers.

Alioski has been away with the Macedonian national side, but is not expected to arrive back until late tonight, giving him a short turnaround ahead of the Easter period.

Leeds entertain Bolton on Friday, looking for just their second victory of the calendar year.

Heckingbottom’s side enter the Easter period in 14th, looking to finish the season strongly, having seen their play-offs hopes dashed by a miserable start to 2018.

Following Friday’s clash with Bolton at Elland Road, Leeds are on the road once again, travelling to Craven Cottage to take on Fulham.

The Verdict

Friday’s Easter fixtures come at a bad time for Leeds, particularly following the international break.

Jansson and Alioski are both key players at Elland Road, but they will not be fresh to take on Bolton on Friday.

How important Jansson is to Leeds might mean that the Swedish defender is risked, however, Heckingbottom will be tempted to hold Alioski back until Tuesday.
