Stuart Dallas’ 2017/18 campaign is over, with the Leeds United midfielder set to miss out against Queens Park Rangers next weekend due to the hamstring injury.

A report in the Yorkshire Evening Post has seen Heckingbottom confirm that Dallas will sit out Sunday’s clash with QPR due to a hamstring injury, which has troubled him for some time.

The Northern Irish international has featured on 29 occasions so far this season in the Sky Bet Championship, including regularly under Heckingbottom, covering a variety of positions including right-back and left-back, as well as on the wing.

Dallas’ most recent spell in the side came at right-back, but a hamstring injury has meant he has missed Leeds’ last two fixtures, with Matthew Pennington stepping in on the right side of defence.

Heckingbottom has now confirmed that Dallas’ season is over, with the 27-year-old facing a spell on the sidelines, he told the YEP: “He was playing with it and we ended up having to scan it, there was some damage in there.”

Dallas’ injury could also force him to sit out of Leeds’ post-season tour of Myanmar at the start of May.

Part of Heckingbottom’s squad will head off to Myanmar for two friendlies following Sunday’s clash with QPR, with Andrea Radrizzani’s decision to send the club there causing controversy worldwide.

The Verdict

It’s been a difficult campaign for Dallas, who has struggled for any real consistency this season, mainly due to the number of positions he has featured in.

Injury has ended his season on a sour note, with it frustrating for the player that he is unable to get some more minutes under his belt in the coming weeks.

Right now, attention needs to be turning to next season and making sure Heckingbottom has a fully fit squad for pre-season.
