Swansea City had a poor deadline day with the club failing to close key deals, whilst they also lost centre-back Federico Fernandez, who signed for Newcastle United.

The Argentinian international, who has over 30 caps for his country, had been at the Welsh club for the past four years after joining from Napoli.

In that time, he established himself as a key player for the club, impressing on the whole with his defensive displays.

However, following relegation last season, there were doubts about his future, and a move to the North East was eventually completed just before the deadline.

After that, the 29-year-old took to Twitter to reveal just how much he had enjoyed his time at the club and wished them will for the future:

That went down well with the majority of Swans supporters, who appreciated his efforts over the years, although some were disappointed he left at such a late stage in the window.
