Aston Villa's search for a striker could see them turn to former West Brom man Jay Rodriguez.

That's according to The Athletic, who claim that the 30-year-old Burnley forward is on Dean Smith's radar as he looks for reinforcements to keep Villa in the Premier League.

And, should it go through, it would be a move that would get people talking in the West Midlands as Rodriguez was a favourite at Albion.

He stayed with the Baggies when they went down and was involved as the two sides battled it out for promotion last season. Rodriguez scored with a controversial late handball when the sides met at The Hawthorns and he also netted as Albion won at Villa Park.

Although, it would be Villa who had the last laugh as they knocked Albion out in the play-off semi-final.

With the rivalry between the pair still intense, it's fair to say that many West Brom fans do not want the ex-Southampton man to join Villa this month.
