As Sunderland adapt to life in League One, the Black Cats continue to be keen on recruiting veteran striker Ross McCormack, according to TEAMTalk.

The 32-year-old Scottish striker is surplus to requirements at Aston Villa with Steve Bruce looking to trim his wage bill.

So would McCormack fit the bill at the Stadium of Light?

We discuss.....

Gary Hutchinson

Yes, in League One he should score goals.

I feel a bit for McCormack, I know there’s questions about fitness but surely that is as much down to the club as it is the player.

He was hung out to dry early in Bruce’s reign and I wonder if that was partly to make a statement about how the club was when he found it.

McCormack slammed home plenty Down Under and he could do the same in League One.

He would spearhead them to promotion.

Jay Williams

McCormack, if in form, would guarantee goals in League One.

What Sunderland lack is a vastly experienced striker, with 25-year-old Charlie Wyke playing the most Football League games by far.

Josh Maja is scoring goals and attacking trio Wyke, Jerome Sinclair and Duncan Watmore are expected back soon so a striker is not necessarily a priority.

But if they could afford to bring in McCormack, then it is worth a try on a short-term loan.

George Dagless

I don't know if they need him.

He'd probably improve the side but Sunderland look nicely settled as a squad now, is there any need to risk things?

McCormack could be a fine influence or he could spark some disagreements so I don't see the need to get after him.
