According to reports from the Telegraph, Crystal Palace striker Connor Wickham is wanted on loan by Nottingham Forest and Watford.

The 26-year-old is surplus to requirements under Roy Hodgson at Selhurst Park, and could be set to leave the South London club on a temporary basis in January.

Forest are expected to add another striker to their ranks in January, as Sabri Lamouchi looks to bolster his squad ready for a push for promotion to the top-flight.

Here, we discuss this latest speculation in today's six-pointer...

Do Forest need another striker?

"Forest need another striker. Desperately.

"Currently, Rafa Mir and Lewis Grabban are their only options up top, having bid farewell to the likes of Daryl Murphy, Hillal Soudani, Apostolos Vellios, Jason Cummings and Tyler Walker in the summer.

"Grabban, of course, has been excellent this season, scoring eight goals in all competitions thus far - but an injury to the 31-year-old could be detrimental as they don't really have any adequate cover for him."

Who have they been linked with?

"Wickham isn't the only forward to have been linked with a move to the City Ground of late.

"Newcastle forward Dwight Gayle has been linked with a move to Forest, but the Reds will reportedly have to pay £15m if they wish to sign the 29-year-old.

"BSC Young Boys striker Guillaume Hoarau is another player who has been mentioned - the 35-year-old has scored 109 goals during a five-year stay with the 13-time Swiss champions.

"Finally, Dundee United striker Lawrence Shankland has been linked with a move to Forest, having scored 20 goals in 20 games for club and country this term."

Would Wickham be a good signing?

"Wickham could be a really good signing for the Reds.

"He is a player that has scored goals in the Championship before, but has found it hard to make an impact in the top-flight for the likes of Sunderland and Palace.

"He will be hungry to make an impact, though, and a tall, physical striker could be exactly what Forest need to achieve their goals and win promotion this term."

What's his current situation?

"Wickham is currently out-of-favour under Roy Hodgson at Palace.

"The 26-year-old has made just two appearances in the Premier League this season - both of which from coming off the bench late on - and has made one other appearance in the Carabao Cup.

"With the likes of Michy Batshuayi and Wilfried Zaha ahead of him in the pecking order at Selhurst Park, he will surely be eager to get out on loan and play some games in January.

"He has played only 16 times in the past three years due to injury, so it's fair to say that it has been a frustrating few years for him."

How likely is it that he will join?

"It depends really - after such a long time out of the team, he will be desperate to impress in the Premier League and prove that he can still score goals at that level.

"Whilst Forest are fighting for promotion in the second tier, it would arguably look better if Wickham were to score six or seven goals for Watford in the Premier League and keep them up.

"A move to Vicarage Road could be too hard to turn down."

Should Forest fans be happy with this one?

"This signing would seem like quite an underwhelming one for Forest fans given the names they have been linked with, especially Dwight Gayle.

"But this signing would make a lot sense - if Forest were to pay £15m for Gayle, then he would have to be a regular starter, however it's doubtful that he will get into the same team as Lewis Grabban.

"Wickham could be useful for the Reds - he would give them a different dimension going forward - he possesses real physical prowess, he is dangerous in the air, and he would provide them with something different in the final third."
