Nottingham Forest have emerged as one of the potential destinations for Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah to join on loan this month, according to the Athletic.

Sabri Lamouchi is looking to bring in some extra attacking options this month, with the Reds heavily reliant on Lewis Grabban to be the player to lead the line and score the goals so far this campaign, given Rafa Mir has not really made the impact he would have been wanting when he joined from Wolves in the summer.

Nketiah has returned to Arsenal from his loan spell with Leeds, having struggled for starts due to the form of Patrick Bamford during the first half of the campaign, but the striker was able to make an impact from the bench scoring some vital goals late in matches for the Whites.

The striker will now be wanting to move to a club where he can be given regular starts during the second half of the season, and Nottingham Forest will be hoping to convince him that they will be able to give that if he makes the move to the City Ground.

So, would Nketiah be a good signing for Nottingham Forest?

Chris Gallagher

"He would be the perfect signing for Forest.

"Everyone knows how reliant they are on Lewis Grabban and the lack of quality behind him is a real concern and needs to be addressed.

"Whilst Nketiah only scored three league goals for Leeds in the first half of the campaign, that was down to a lack of starts and the quality he boasts is clear to see.

"Whether Arsenal will allow him to join Forest knowing that Grabban is there remains to be seen but if the Reds can bring the England U21 international to the City Ground it would be a major coup and will seriously help their promotion push."

Josh Cole

“This could turn out to a shrewd move by Forest if they are able to convince Nketiah to make to the City Ground between now and end of the January transfer window.

“Having recently returned to Arsenal following a spell at Leeds United in which he was mainly limited to substitute appearances by manager Marcelo Bielsa, the forward will be determined to prove his worth in the Championship.

“A quick player who has already developed an understanding of when to make the right run in attacking situations, Nketiah could finally add some much-needed competition up-front for Lewis Grabban at Forest.

“With four direct goal contributions to his name already at Championship level, the 20-year-old may end up thriving under the guidance of Reds boss Sabri Lamouchi who has aided the development of Brice Samba and Matty Cash amongst others this season.”

Louie Chandler

"This would be a serious coup of Nottingham Forest considering the amount of interest in the youngster at the moment.

"Nketiah showed that he is capable of cutting it at this level during his time with Leeds but fell victim to the brilliant form of Patrick Bamford. You imagine he would suit Nottingham Forest's style of play down to the ground too and would really thrive with the creative clout they have at their disposal.

"The only question mark would be whether Arsenal would want him to go there. With Lewis Grabban in the ranks there is a good chance Nketiah could end up playing second-fiddle again."

Jordan Rushworth

“Nketiah has real potential to develop into a reliable goal scorer for a number of clubs in the Championship during the second half of the campaign, with the striker showing his finishing ability during limited game time from the bench at Leeds United at the start of the campaign.

“Forest obviously need to bring someone in to support Lewis Grabban, and it would be an excellent move if they were to bring Nketiah in from Arsenal this month, with the striker having the potential ability to link up with Grabban or even start on his own up front.

“The Reds would have two real goal scorers in their squad were they to bring in Nketiah and that could make all the difference in their hopes of maintaining a push for promotion this season, with the Reds having lacked a scoring presence at times when Grabban has been rested.

“Given he has had not had many starts at Leeds in the first half of the campaign Nketiah would arrive fresh and eager to impress and force his way into Forest’s starting line-up, which would make him an ideal signing for Forest this month.”
