Sunderland are keeping tabs on Brentford midfielder Ryan Woods, according to reports.

The 24-year-old former Shrewsbury Town star has been a standout player for the Bees this season, and his fine displays have seemingly caught the attention of Chris Coleman.

Would Woods be a good signing for the Black Cats?

We discuss....

Chris Gallagher

He would be an insane signing.

Woods has shown over the past few seasons he is one of the best passing midfielders in the league and you'd have to question why he'd leave Brentford for the Stadium of Light now.

However, if they can pull it off, then what a signing for Coleman's men.

Alfie Burns

Woods would be an unbelievable addition for Sunderland this month, and if Coleman can get the midfielder to the Stadium of Light it would be some coup.

The midfielder has turned in classy performances for a long time in a Brentford shirt, managing to establish himself as one of the Championship’s standout performers.

Sunderland’s supporters would be in dreamland if they singed Woods.

George Dagless

I think he would be a decent signing.

I have my doubts that Sunderland would be able to get him though. Brentford have a chance of the play-offs this season, why would he leave for lowly Sunderland?

That is the issue the Black Cats have right now.

Luke Randall

Would be a very promising signing.

The Brentford midfielder has been inspiring this season, his composure and ability on the ball has highlighted him as one of the best central-midfielders in the Championship this season.

With an ageing Lee Cattermole being reckless more often than not, the addition of the central-midfielder would go along way with the creativity and possession work within the side.

Sam Preston

I just don't see why he would go there.

He's an ever-present in a Brentford side that plays attractive football and is upwardly mobile.

Sunderland are moving in the opposite direction and it wouldn't be a good move for his career.

I'm sure Chris Coleman would love to see him through the door but I don't see it happening.
