Following his appointment as permanent manager at Birmingham City, Pep Clotet is looking to strengthen his squad in January, with a move for out-of-favour Bournemouth goal-keeper Asmir Begovic being reported by The Sun.

Begovic is currently on on a short-term loan at Azerbaijani side Qarabag, that ends in the New Year and with a number of clubs as well as the Blues interested, another spell away from Bournemouth be it temporary or permanent, looks like it is on the cards.

So would Begovic be a good addition at St Andrews?

We discuss........

Louie Chandler

"This would be an excellent signing for the Blues.

"Lee Camp has frequently cost his side points over the last couple of seasons with silly errors and is a weak link that needs to be sorted out.

"Whilst Connal Trueman looks like a good prospect between the sticks, he is probably not quite at the level needed to turn Clotet's side into a force.

"Begovic would be a short-term solution but it is one that the Blues need to look into securing, as it could make a huge difference this season."

George Brooks

"There's no doubt that Birmingham could do with a new goalkeeper in January. Lee Camp has made a lot of mistakes so far this season and Connal Trueman does not have a lot of experience in the Championship.

"It would make a lot of sense for the Blues to sign a new 'keeper come January and Begovic would be a very good option in my opinion.

"He may no longer be the first-choice goalkeeper at Bournemouth, but he's still a very good shot-stopper and is more than capable of making an impact in the Championship.

"He's still only 32, which is a good age for a goalkeeper and he's made over 200 appearances in the Premier League as well, so the likes of Trueman and the other young goalkeepers at Birmingham will be able to learn a great deal from his experience."

Chris Gallagher

"He would be a real coup for the Blues.

"Even though Connal Trueman has done reasonably well since coming into the team you can't help but feel that a new number one is needed.

"Begovic would be a reassuring presence at the back for Blues and most would agree that he is a definite upgrade on what they have. Whilst his form has suffered over the past 18 months or so, he would still be a very good keeper at this level.

"Blues should still feel that the top six is a realistic aim this season but to do that they will need a few big signings in January - and the Bosnian stopper would fit the bill."
