Charlton are close to completing a transfer move to bring Blackpool forward Armand Gnanduillet to South London, according to News Shopper.

Lee Bowyer is reportedly keen to add further attacking players to his side by the end of the month, and it now appears as though the Addicks are closing in on a move for Gnanduillet after missing out on the forward over the summer.

The 27-year-old is in a rich vein of form after netting a total of 15 goals in his 27 appearances for the Tangerines this season, and it now seems he is set to join the likes of Lyle Taylor and Macauley Bonne among Bowyer's striking options.

Charlton have needed to contend with a significant injury crisis so far this campaign, with this meaning the South London side have only won once in their last 15 matches, and Gnanduillet's potential arrival could help ease the strain on the squad.

Here we discuss whether Gnanduillet would be a good addition for the Addicks...

George Harbey

"I think that it would be a real coup to lure Gnanduillet to The Valley given the calibre of teams that have been linked with the powerful forward's signature.
"Gnanduillet has been prolific in League One for a number of seasons now, and he fully deserves his chance to make the step up and test himself in the Championship just like Lyle Taylor has done.
"Of course, Taylor's future at The Valley is looking more and more uncertain as weeks go by so Gnanduillet will be looking to come in as his replacement, and I think that he's more than capable of stepping up to the plate if he does go and leave.
"He is a tall, physical, strong centre-forward who possesses real aerial threat, and his hold-up play is also hugely impressive - he would be a perfect fit for Lee Bowyer's side."

Ned Holmes

"I think this could be a really smart move by Charlton and one that could be key in keeping them up.
"Gnanduillet has been in fantastic form for Blackpool this season, scoring 12 times in 22 League One appearances.
"With Lyle Taylor having turned down a new contract at the Valley, it makes sense for the Addicks to look to strengthen their striking options and I think
"A big, physical striker that has shown himself calm and composed in front of goal, you feel Gnanduillet would complement the other strikes that Lee Bowyer has available to him, such as Macauley Bonne and, if he doesn't leave, Taylor."

Jordan Rushworth

“Given the uncertainty over the potential future of Lyle Taylor, Charlton could be in need of investing in a new striker this month, with Lee Bowyer’s men needing to get some extra firepower up front to replace Taylor’s presence were they to lose him during the transfer window.

“Gnanduillet has been in good form in League One for Blackpool so far this campaign, hitting 12 goals in 22 appearances, which suggests he would arrive at Charlton full of confidence were they to secure his signature this month, and that could help him make a difference straight away.

“However, the striker has never really been a prolific scorer throughout his career, so it would be a slight risk to ask him to come in and score the goals needed to help Charlton maintain their Championship status this term.

“Bowyer, though, has shown he can help to get the best out of his centre forwards and if he feels that Gnanduillet is the right option for Charlton then he has earned the right to be backed in the transfer market this month.”
