Sunderland are still struggling to shift defender Papy Djilobodji, with interest from Europe, the door is still open to shift the player before the European transfer window closes.

Hannover 96 are keen on the 29-year-old defender and Djilobodji would be keen to go back to the Bundesliga, where his stock is high after he had a successful loan spell with Wolfsburg whilst on Chelsea’s books.

So should Sunderland look to offload Djilobodji?

We discuss.....

Jay Taylor

Of course.

He isn’t going to be playing for Sunderland any time soon, so why should he be able to go AWOL and still be on the books at the Stadium of Light.

The club aren’t paying his wages at present as he refused to return so get him off the books as Djiboldji doesn’t want to be there and the cub don’t want him.

Get rid, no point having him around.

Gary Hutchinson

Yes, cash in now. Djilbodji is just another of those high-earners who were missing when the chips were down.

The days of players like him are over, the fans know it, Jack Ross knows it and the rest of the squad need to see it.

If they can get a bit of money and clear the wage bill it will all help as the season draws on.

When did he last kick a ball for them? Over a year ago? They’re not going to miss him one bit.

Sam Rourke

Absolutely - He won't put on the Sunderland shirt again.

It's so evident he's not in Jack Ross' first-team plans at the Black Cats, and I expect a move to go through for him imminently.

It's fair to say his time at the Stadium of Light was far from fruitful.

George Dagless

Yes.

Sunderland need to ship these players out as much as they can before the deadline in the loan window and European market.

They've still got too many players from the dark days and that has to be their priority in the coming weeks.
