A lot of talk over the summer transfer window surrounded George Hirst, with the Sheffield Wednesday man attracting interest from across English football.

Leeds United and Leicester City were two clubs interested in taking Hirst, 18, away from Hillsborough over the summer, but the striker remained in South Yorkshire beyond August’s deadline despite ongoing doubt surrounding his contract situation.

However, Hirst has still not been able to break into the Wednesday first team, with Carlos Carvalhal reluctant to hand the exciting prospect an opportunity ahead of Steven Fletcher, Gary Hooper or Jordan Rhodes.

In the latest update on Hirst, Dom Howson from the Sheffield Star has confirmed the striker has surprisingly missed out on selection for the club’s under-23 side.

First team players such as Morgan Fox and Frederico Venancio are featuring for Wednesday, but the club’s supporters are left confused by Hirst’s omission.

Following Howson’s update, here is some reaction from Wednesday’s supporters…
