Wigan have confirmed that striker Will Keane has extended his contract with the Latics until the end of the season.

Following his release from Ipswich Town last season, the former Manchester United frontman signed a short-term deal at the DW Stadium.

However, after producing some impressive goalscoring form in recent weeks for Wigan, the hierarchy have made the decision to keep Keane at the club for the remainder of the current campaign.

Keane has made 12 appearances in all competitions, scoring five times as the managerless Latics bid to avoid a second consecutive relegation.

The striker has managed four goals in his previous six outings for Wigan, including a late winner in their dramatic victory over Burton Albion in their most recent League One match last month.

He'll be hoping to add his tally when the Lancashire outfit return to league action with another crunch relegation clash at Rochdale on Saturday afternoon.
