Atdhe Nuhiu was reintroduced to the Sheffield Wednesday side towards the end of last year and hit a purple patch with his goal scoring form.

The towering centre-forward netted a remarkable nine goals in the last eight games of the season, all but ending any concerns about relegation.

This included a hat-trick on the final day against Norwich City and the 28-year-old signed a new contract this summer.

But how big is his role in Jos Luhukay's system next year?

FLW writers discuss whether they see a role for him next term...

Gary Hutchinson

At present yes, they've signed nobody and they'll have to play the big man.

I would hope he'll end up as a fringe player because if they're relying on him, they'll be in trouble.

Jay Williams

If he can replicate the form he showed at the end of last season, he will start the new campaign as their number one striker.

But with Lucas Joao continuing to improve, Gary Hooper and Fernando Forestieri coming back from injury and potentially a new striker arriving, he could find himself down the pecking order.

Nuhiu is always a good option to have on the bench, though, as his physical presence offers a different dimension if chasing the game or trying to preserve a lead.

Christian Fuller

Atdhe Nuhiu will have to prove his worth in pre-season if he is to have any sort of chance of featuring for Owls this coming season.

If he can show his talent, and most importantly find the back of the net, in their friendly matches, he might be able to find his way into the starting eleven, but it will be the work of a dedicated man.

Jay Taylor

He is a fans' favourite at Hillsborough. His presence alone scares opposition defenders.

As the saying goes, he has a good touch for a big man and will again be a player who is vital to Wednesday doing well.

Plus, with Jordan Rhodes gone, he will be needed more than ever.
