After a summer of upheaval, Nottingham Forest are finally starting to find some consistency as they look to win promotion out of the second tier.

Aitor Karanka has brought in plenty of new faces since the end of last season and his side currently sit in seventh place in the table and just one point outside the play-offs with 17 matches played.

The likes of Joao Carvalho, Lewis Grabban, Jack Robinson and Costel Pantilimon have all shone since arriving over the summer and look set to remain key players.

But, that upheaval has had a knock-on effect on some of the club's fringe players.

Whilst the likes of Joe Lolley and Matty Cash have managed to stay in the fold, there are others who have not managed to do so.

One of those is midfielder Ryan Yates, who is regaining his fitness in the under-23 squad ahead of a loan move in January, according to the Nottingham Post.

Would Yates' departure be a wise move for Forest to make?

We discuss...

George Harbey

I think it is the right move for Forest to make.

Yates isn’t going to get into the Forest team anytime soon due to so many options in the midfield department, so a loan move will be best of course.

He was mightily impressive for Notts County and Scunthorpe United last term, and the midfielder has shown glimpses that he will be a solid player in the future.

Jacob Potter

It is totally the right move, he has no immediate future at Forest and hasn’t played this season.

For his sake he needs to leave to get first-team football to develop more.

He won’t do that at the City Ground anytime soon, so a move in the New Year is the right move for all parties involved.

Jay Taylor

It's the best move for both parties.

Yates is only 20 and will be after regular first-team football this season, which he is unlikely to get at the City Ground.

He has already shown his ability with loan spells at Notts County and Scunthorpe United, and he will be keen to prove himself out on loan for the remainder of the season.
