Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam has admitted he is open to a return to Ibrox, but if the reaction from a selection of fans on Twitter is anything to go by, he'd be best staying away.

The 33-year old spent five seasons with Rangers after coming through their youth ranks, but ended up moving on to Blackpool in 2009. Since then he's plied his trade in England with Liverpool and Stoke, but limited chances this season suggest his tenure south of the border is due to end soon.

That's prompted rumours of a move back to his native Scotland, the country he's represented 26 times since 2007. Hearts are one of the sides thought to be in the hunt, but Adam has mentioned the possibility of going back where it all began.

That hasn't been met with a warm reception on Twitter. Some Rangers fans seem to think he was poor for them back in the day and that he should be 'nowhere near' Ibrox now, unless it is in a Hearts away shirt.

Here's a selection of their responses on Twitter.
