Aston Villa were humbled by Grant McCann's Peterborough United at Villa Park on Saturday, as the League One side prevailed 3-1 winners.

A brace from Jack Marriott helped earn the Posh a shock win in the Midlands, and he was a constant threat throughout for Peterborough.

The Villans have been linked with a move for the striker who has scored 17 goals in League One, and after what Steve Bruce saw on Saturday, should they make a move for him?

We discuss.....

Chris Gallagher

It would be tempting, but I don't think so.

Promotion is a must for Villa and ultimately nobody knows whether Marriott will handle the step up to the Championship.

Villa are a big attraction and could bring in more proven players and I think given what is at stake that's what they should do.

Alfie Burns

Marriott might’ve added another million onto his price-tag following his FA Cup heroics, which could prove to be a stumbling block for Villa.

We know Bruce has his hands tied this month, and I’m not sure Villa will be able to afford Marriott and stay in-line with FFP.

Marriott would be ideal for Villa, but I’m not sure they will get him if they do make a move.

George Dagless

Go for it Bruce.

Villa were poor at the weekend and were shown up by the Posh and their main striker Marriott.

He is surely good enough for the Championship and would relish the challenge that Villa would hand him.

Luke Randall

I think they should definitely take a look.

The striker has managed to score 21 goals this season with 4 assists to go with this emphatic number, having shown he can produce against Championship opposition why not take a punt on the Peterborough man.

Indeed, with Scott Hogan struggling for a bit of form, Jack Marriott would be a worthy buy for the Villains.

Sam Preston

They've seen first hand what he can do and will like what they saw.

He was everything that Keinan Davis wasn't on Saturday - quick, mobile and always willing to run the channels.

He only got two chances and finished them both clinically. Villa's attack was lackluster on Saturday and Marriott's energy could be what they need.
