Football League World's Reading fan pundit Harry Chafer has spoken of his delight upon seeing George Puscas produce a terrific individual performance to net a hattrick at the weekend against Wigan Athletic.

The Romanian striker was a surprise arrival for the Royals this summer as he, made the move across Europe from Inter Milan following a largely successful spell at the 2019 UEFA European Under-21 Championship, in which he put in a series of eye catching displays.

Overall it is fair to say that Puscas has started slowly for the Royals, scoring just six times in his first 17 Championship appearances, however the 23-year-old really caught the eye last weekend away at Wigan as he single handedly fired his side to three points.

We caught up with Chafer earlier this week and here is what our fan pundit hads to say about the striker's match winning performance:

"As soon as we were awarded a penalty 10 minutes from time, the Romanian came to life.

"From that moment on he was absolutely ruthless in front of goal and showed the qualities that he's got and exactly what we've been crying out for from him all season.

"The second goal in particular is an absolutely fantastic goal and showed exactly why we spent the big bucks on him in the summer.

"Now we just have to hope he continues these kind of performances in the weeks and months to come, because if he does we have a serious player on our hands."

Chafer then talked up who he felt was best suited to partnering the Romanian front man up top in the coming weeks:

"The stats will show that Lucas Joao is probably the best partner for him up top as five out of his six league goals have come whilst Joao has been on the pitch with him, with the towering Portuguese even assisting Puscas for his second goal on Saturday.

"However, Puscas has also shown glimpses of good work when he's been paired with Sam Baldock too in recent weeks but overall I would have to say Joao is the best partner for him."

Reading fans will certainly be hoping that Puscas can build upon his weekend goal glut as the Royals seek to continue their gradual rise up the league table.
