QPR went down to a derby defeat last Friday when Fulham came from behind to take all three points and leave Mark Warburton's side with three defeats in their last four outings, that has seen them drop to 12th in the Championship.

One player who was in the firing line from fans for the defeat was goalkeeper Joe Lumley who with the game 1-1 early in the second half, made a poor clearance that went straight to Stefan Johansen who slipped the ball to Aboubakar Kamara to score the winner.

So in light of his recent mistake should Lumley be dropped by Warburton ahead of tonight's clash with Nottingham Forest?

We discuss..........

Kris Smith

“I think Warburton should keep his faith in Lumley for the time being, as he is the best ‘keeper QPR have at their disposal currently.

“Below Lumley in the pecking order is seemingly Dillon Barnes, as he took up the spot on the bench over Liam Kelly this week. Barnes has barely had regular football in his career and his highest level was playing in League Two.

“Lumley is Warburton’s best choice in goal and it’s clear to see that their problems run much deeper than the odd goalkeeping mistake, as they currently have the second-worst defence in the league.

“If Lumley were to be dropped, I wouldn’t see their situation improving at all, it would just cause more problems adding in an inexperienced ‘keeper into an already struggling defence.”

Ben Lang

"Lumley has failed to establish himself as QPR's first-choice goalkeeper this season, and his performance against Fulham on Friday did not do him any favours in terms of keeping his starting place.

"The 24-year-old appears to be a player who thrives off confidence, so the fact he has come under criticism of late means he is not likely to be in the best place to start for the Rs in their upcoming matches.

"However, this then presents Warburton with a dilemma because he will find it difficult to drop Lumley with Liam Kelly still injured, and it would then involve the QPR boss turning to Dillon Barnes who has not yet had a taste of Championship football.

"I do think some of the criticism levelled at Lumley has been harsh given he is still developing as a goalkeeper, but it could keep costing the team if he remains in goal following his recent errors. It might be time for Warburton to give Barnes a chance in the side."

Jacob Potter

"He surely needs to be dropped heading into their game against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday.

"Lumley didn’t cover himself in glory at all during their defeat to Fulham last week, so it could be the ideal time for Dillion Barnes to come into the team.

"Lumley needs to know that his starting spot isn’t guaranteed at QPR, and heading into the hectic festive period, Mark Warburton’s side can’t afford to be dropping points because of their own mistakes.

"They’re only five points adrift of the play-off places, so a top-six finish certainly isn’t out of the equation this season.

"The festive period can make or break a season for any team, and Warburton needs to be bold and make decisions that are going to help fire QPR up the Championship table."
