Sunderland are enduring a disastrous season so far as the Mackems currently sit rock bottom of the Sky Bet Championship table.

The Black Cats look seriously dead and buried, and need a new manager to come in and revitalise the team if they are to have any hope of staying up.

The players are simply not performing to good enough levels, and there are a number of liabilities at Sunderland.

So, who is the biggest liability at Sunderland?

We take a look....

Adam Simeoni

Take your pick from the players, but I'm going with the chairman.

The way the club has been run in recent years is nothing short of diabolical, and it is looking increasingly likely that this once proud Premier League side will be playing in the third tier next season.

Get rid of Short, and the situation will begin to improve.

George Dagless

The question should be who's the smallest liability.

Sunderland have a serious number of players that are taking their money and doing nothing else and that's why they are in this state.

I'll go with Lamine Kone, though, as in form he could be a Premier League level centre-back and he simply isn't trying.

Chris Gallagher

There's many to choose from unfortunately.

However, I'd go for Lee Cattermole. He's known for his competitive style but there's more needed from a central midfielder than that.

As a leader in the team, he should be demanding the ball, trying to raise the tempo and helping others around him. That hasn't happened though and he's struggled.

Alfie Burns

Take your pick, there are that many options at the Stadium of Light.

I’ll go with one of Sunderland’s high-profile defenders – John O’Shea.

O’Shea should be the leader within Sunderland’s team, having gained plenty of experience at the top of the game with Manchester United and the Republic of Ireland.

However, the defender is a liability and should bring so much more to the Black Cats, particularly in the Championship.
