Not only has Birmingham City striker Che Adams got a decision to make about his club future with a host of clubs clamouring for his signature, he also has a choice to make as to where his international allegiances lie with Scotland manager Alex McLeish keen on the 22-year-old opting for north of the border, as reported on Sky Sports.
Adams has already played international football for England at U20 level, but having been born in Leicester to an Antiguan father and having Scottish grandparents, he could actually play for Antigua and Barbuda, England or Scotland.
So should Adams take Scotland’s interest seriously or wait for England?
“I would wait for now.
“If he can prove himself in the Premier League next season then a call-up from Southgate will not be long away.
“The Scottish national team are not in a great place right now so it would be wise to steer clear.”
“He should seriously consider this offer.
“Adams might be an excellent striker, but he isn’t going to be challenging the likes of Harry Kane for a starting spot in the England squad.
“But he’s definitely good enough for the Scotland squad, and it would be a no-brainer for me if I was in his situation.”
“Go for Scotland.
“He could wait forever and never be picked.
“If he plays for Scotland he gets the experiences and might even be a staple of their international set up.
“He’d be silly to wait for England with the talent emerging elsewhere.”
“He shouldn’t get too far ahead of himself, but he will also be cautious of committing too early.
“A lot can change in football and Adams is progressing well.
“Maybe this is a decision to be made when he’s in the Premier League.”
“It depends on his divisional status next season.
“If Adams was destined for the Championship, then I would say go for Scotland.
“But at 22, he is looking like he is going right to the top – and if a Premier League move comes to fruition in the summer, and he performs well, an England call might be on the cards.
“Don’t just at the first option that comes his way – think about it and bide his time – that would be the best thing to do.”
