The morning of the 3rd October has marked the end of Roberto Di Matteo's Aston Villa career, as his sacking was confirmed after just a matter of months at the helm.

After taking the reigns in the summer he has taken charge of just eleven league games, but has earned a return of less than a point a game as the club sit in 19th place on just ten points.

The downfall of RDM's Villa park tenure has been their failure to turn draws into wins, the club have won just once this season which came against bottom of the table Rotherham United.

Villa spent big in the summer and brought in the likes of Ross McCormack and Jonathan Kodija, and as a consequence have been expected to have an immediate upturn in results, something which RDM has failed to deliver.

After the disappointing campaign last season, this campaign was expected to be a much happier one for the Villans as nothing less than automatic promotion was expected.

The attentions of the club most now turn to appointing RDM's successor, and ensure they make the correct decision and appoint someone who can steer them straight back up to the top flight.

This is how Aston Villa fans on Twitter reacted to the news of Roberto Di Matteo's departure....
