Portsmouth star Matt Clarke is bound to be top of the transfer hit list of many clubs this season, but is the Premier League one step too far?

While Pompey have warned other clubs away from their star men, with Jamal Lowe also linked away, it seems highly likely missing out on promotion will spell the end of Matt Clarke's time at Fratton Park.

Brighton seem the most likely destination, but is this a good move for him?

We debate where we think he will end up at the end of the window...

George Dagless

"Hard to say.

"It has to be the Championship at least but then after that, take your pick which club he should be at.

"I could see him doing well at Stoke, Bristol City, Leeds and Brighton in the top flight, so he has a decision to make."

Louie Chandler

“Leeds' interest seems to have cooled a bit but I would say at Elland Road.

“There seems to be a bit of unrest with Pontus Jansson at the moment and with Liam Cooper not exactly covering himself in glory, there would definitely be a chance for him there.

“Having played at Fratton Park he is used to a pressured home environment and I think he could thrive at the Yorkshire club.”

Lewis Steele

“He should go to top end Championship.

“He’s certainly deserved of the Brighton links and I can see him moving there if honest, but I think it’d be the wrong choice.

“Dunk and Duffy are potentially the best defensive pairing outside the top half, so Clarke would rarely play for Brighton.”
