Sunderland are in the midst of a woeful season.

The Black Cats sit in 23rd spot in the Sky Bet Championship table, and have recorded just two wins all season.

One player who has been in for a lot of criticism of late is midfielder Lee Cattermole, who has consistently been producing sub-par performances.

On current form, how much should the 29-year-old be on a week?

We discuss....

George Dagless

He should be paying the club!

Cattermole has been pretty poor this season and really seems to have lost that edge that made him a half-decent player.

Whether he can find it or not remains to be seen but at the moment he's not earning his wages - and the same can be said for half the squad at least.

Adam Simeoni

Shouldn't he be paying Sunderland to play right now?

The experienced midfielder hasn't enjoyed the best spell of his career, and will admit that he needs to improve if he is to drag the Black Cats away from their current predicament.

£10,000 a week is a lot of money, but that's what the player should expect to be earning.

Chris Gallagher

A lot less than he is on!

The midfielder is enduring a torrid time out on the pitch and you would suggest that academy graduates who are on a fraction of his wage would do a better job.

He needs to turn things around very quickly because like most at Sunderland he is earning way much more than he deserves.

Alfie Burns

Cattermole has been so disappointing this season, and is undeserving of whatever he is earning.

Sunderland’s performances this season have been shocking, with Cattermole one of a number of players to seriously disappoint.

Whatever the midfielder is earning, Sunderland’s supporters will believe he should only be on a fraction of that, due to his contribution this season.
